SSHable ("the App") is a mobile SSH client developed by Made by Ashish ("we", "us", or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it.

Summary: SSHable stores your SSH connection settings and credentials on your device. SSH traffic goes directly between your device and the servers you configure. We do not operate backend servers for SSH sessions, and we do not sell your personal data.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

SSHable does not require account registration and does not collect the following through our own servers:

Name, email address, or phone number
Location data
Contacts, photos, or other unrelated device content
Analytics, advertising identifiers, or usage tracking for marketing
Contents of your SSH terminal sessions

We do not operate a cloud service that receives your SSH commands, terminal output, or server credentials.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

To provide SSH functionality, the App stores data locally on your device, including:

Connection profiles (name, host, port, and optional host fingerprint)
SSH identities (name and username)
Passwords and SSH private keys used for authentication
SSH tunnel configuration (local, remote, and dynamic/SOCKS settings)
App preferences such as onboarding completion and Pro unlock status

Passwords and private keys are encrypted on-device using AES-256-GCM before being saved in the App database. An encryption key is stored in the device's secure storage (Android Keystore / platform secure storage). Key passphrases, if provided, are stored in the local database.

If you use the file picker to import an SSH private key, the App reads only the file you select and stores its contents locally for authentication. The App does not upload imported key files to our servers.

3. SSH Connections and Network Use

SSHable connects directly from your device to the SSH servers you configure. Network communication is limited to what is needed to establish and maintain SSH sessions and tunnels.

Server hostnames, IP addresses, and ports are determined by you
Terminal input and output travel between your device and the remote server
We do not intercept, log, or store your SSH session traffic on developer-operated servers

You are responsible for the servers you connect to and for protecting your credentials and remote systems.

4. Background Operation

While an SSH session is active, the App may run a foreground service and show a persistent notification so the connection can remain active in the background. This service operates on your device and is used only to maintain your active SSH sessions and tunnels.

5. In-App Purchases

SSHable offers an optional one-time Pro upgrade through Google Play Billing. Purchases are processed by Google Play, not directly by us. We receive purchase confirmation from Google Play to unlock Pro features on your device and store a local entitlement flag in secure storage.

Payment information is handled by Google according to Google's Privacy Policy.

6. Android Permissions

The App may request or use the following permissions:

Internet — to connect to SSH servers you configure
Foreground service — to keep active SSH sessions running in the background
Billing — to process the optional Pro in-app purchase through Google Play

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. Information may be shared only in these limited cases:

Google Play — when you purchase or restore the Pro upgrade, Google processes the transaction
Your SSH servers — credentials and session data are sent only to servers you choose to connect to
Legal requirements — if required by applicable law, regulation, or valid legal process

8. Data Security

We use on-device encryption and platform secure storage to help protect sensitive credentials. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure. You should use strong passwords, protect your device with a screen lock, and follow security best practices on your servers.

9. Data Retention and Deletion

Your connection profiles, identities, tunnels, and related data remain on your device until you delete them in the App or uninstall the App. Uninstalling SSHable removes locally stored App data from your device, subject to platform behavior.

10. Children's Privacy

SSHable is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can assist with removal where applicable.

11. International Users

Because SSHable stores data locally on your device and connects directly to servers you choose, your data may be processed in any country where your device or target servers are located.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes become effective means you accept the updated policy.
